It is sad to watch our pets age. The average pet will live more than ten human years. By then the pet is an established member of the family. The thought that your pet is nearing the end of its life is unbearable. As hard as it is to think about, you do want to take care of your aging pet and make its final years or months as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, both for the pet and for you.

If you’ve come home even once to find your favorite pair of shoes torn to shreds, you’ve probably been looking for ways to keep your dog busy and out of trouble when you’re not around.  Here are some of the best toys you can give your pup to keep him content:
1.    Kong Toys:  The classic Kong is a hard rubber toy with a hollow space inside where you can pack treats.  Various different treats and fillings are sold to put into Kongs, or you can go to the Kong website and look up some of the recipes they recommend.  The idea is that it takes a lot of work to get the treats out from the inside of the toy, which will keep your dog working busily—sometimes for hours!

Cats will settle into a new location more easily, if the home has been prepared in advance. Indoor cats need to feel safe and comfortable. You will be responsible for the care of this wonderful animal for the rest of its life. Spend a little time to ensure that your home is ready and you will be rewarded with affection and companionship for many years.

Trimming your dog’s nails is not only important to his appearance, but also to his health. Long nails can be painful and break off easily, causing profuse bleeding and pain. This is a very sensitive area to tend to, so proper education is needed in order for nails to be trimmed correctly.

Tortoises can make very interesting pets for people of all ages, but they are more difficult to care for than you may think. There are many different species of tortoises, including Mediterranean Spur-thighed Tortoise, Hermann’s Tortoise (sometimes called the Mediterranean Tortoise) and the Leopard Tortoise. Depending on the species, they can vary greatly in their dietary requirements and size; so, before rushing out to buy one, you should research each species carefully to find out which ones will be the easiest for you to care for.
