Our oldest wants to dye her hair, she is not that young but she is not that old yet either. I say go for it as its not an extreme color but what age is the best age?
I would say when they are old enough to drive themselves to the store and buy it themselves with their own earned cash. Some schools do not allow hair dye with the dress code so you might want to check that first.
This is a tough one for me. I wanted to color my hair when I was in high school and my mom said NO! My daughter wants to highlight her hair and I said NO. I know a lot of kids her age that do have highlights. I would say 16!
I don't think hair dye is that big of a deal at all. I never really understood why so many are opposed to it. It's hair, it grows out. For school it wouldn't even be a big deal if it's a color that could be natural. You can even dye over it if it looks bad.
I think once they are in their teens it is okay, especially if it's not some crazy color. I wouldn't have a problem making them pay for the hair dye themselves though.
