Default Facebook for kids

At what age do you think Facebook is appropriate? There are so many kids on nowadays that I'm almost afraid to post. I have to go through and make sure they're blocked from seeing any posts with dirty jokes even though I think it's the parents job to monitor.

Yes it should be a parents job to monitor but not all do. Besides, I think a lot of kids have ways of getting around some things. I would say at least in their teens which I think is somewhere near their age limit. But exactly HOW are you suppose to know who and what age some one is that has an account?

I think there are probably way to many young kids on there now that should be. Really there is no way of telling just what age someone is that opens an account. Yeah, you have to answer some questions and one I think is what age you are, but.....duhhhh, what do you think a kid is going to put? Parents really should monitor closely as most kids put way to much info on there!

I would not post dirty jokes on facebook. There are so many people that can see your page I would not do it. I think 13 is a good age for a child.

I am pretty sure the TOS say you have to be at least 13, and that seems reasonable to me. They still need to be monitored by their parents though.

When we're babysitting I made the executive decision that kids are not allowed on the computer. I can't keep track of what they are and are not allowed to do.

I doubt I would let a 13 year old on a social site, I also doubt I would let a 13 year old have a cell phone other than one that pre-programs my number, the house and 911. Kids are growing up too quick now and parents are part of the issue.

Wow, leeti, you're tough! I bet my kids are glad you aren't their mom! To each their own though...

I think 13 is a fine age for a facebook page, but it has to be closed to everyone except friends their own age and family.
