About a month ago, I called the amubulance to take my Gran to the hospital because she had a virus and was throwing up her toes. When I called the ambulance, they also dispatched the fire department although they weren't needed. Now she's getting a bill from the FIRE DEPARTMENT for coming out to her house. This is stupid!!! Would you pay the bill?

That's ridiculous! Why would the fire department want to come to the house for an ambulance run? I would be challenging the bill. You need to talk to them and see if you can get them to rescind the bill.

I don't think I would pay it. They would have to explain to me why I would need to when I didn't need them or call them. I don't think you have to pay the ambulance unless they actually take you to the hospital.

I think I would end up disputing too, if I knew exactly what was said during the 911 call. I know they sometimes send fire/police together but this is a new one for me, never heard of it before.

You are not going to have a choice. This is common practice in many counties now. If you don't pay it they will just place a lien on her property, and may even take her to court.

That's horrible! In our community the police, fire and ambulance services come out if there is a fire and we have to pay all three. But it's not pushed if you don't pay it and it's never put on your credit report. I have no idea why they would have to be out with an ambulance. That's silly.

What? Since when does a fire department bill you for coming to your home? Why did they come anyway? There was no fire? I would not pay it! No way no how!
