My daughter wants us to visit her in the USA next year but it's an 11 hour flight and I'm in my seventies. How can I tell her that I just don't think I can do it? It's really making me stressed thinking about it.
I hope that you are not still stressing about it. The best way to tell her is with honesty and the facts. Just let her know that an 11 hour flight is just to much for you. Honesty is the best medicine.
If you are not sick or have poor health, why can't you make that 11 hour flight? Some people who are older can still travel far and wide and enjoy doing it.
We travelled long haul to the USA two years ago and I hated it. It made me so tired that I didn't start to enjoy the holiday until two days after we arrived and then I began dreading the flight back. It's just not worth the discomfort.
Is it possible for her to come visit you? I can sympathize with the stress associated with a long trip like that. The only way anyone could get me on a plane for 11 hours is if I was drugged. And I'm only 37.
