I never thought I would say this, but I miss our routine! I had surgery not long ago, and having outside help messed up the routine. Now I am better, but it's the holidays and we have all this stuff to do. I am looking forward to after the holidays are over and settling back down to normal.
The holidays are never a good time to get out of your normal schedule. While I love them and even when family randomly comes to visit when it messes up my routine it can throw me off for a full week.
I'm exactly the same. I always thought that it was an age thing but even going on holiday scuppers me now and I long to get back to the routine I know.
I don't think it has anything to do with age. I know that I have my home set up exactly how I like it and even if I stay in a luxury hotel or somewhere really comfortable, it's just not like home!
I think we humans are set up to love routine. I know many animals can't get out of their routine or they misbehave terribly. For example: Dean Koontz said his dog, Trixie, was walked three times a day and she always went to the neighbor's yard to do her job. If she varied from this schedule there were consequences i.e. pee on the carpet at that time she was used to going out. It's comforting to get a routine.
