Default Kids pictures on Facebook profile

This is related to my earlier thread but seemed more appropriate to make separate. I've run across adults that use their children's picture as their profile picture. If I'm adding people (strangers) because of a game I'm playing at the time (Family Feud mainly) then I'll post on their message board that I won't add them unless they put in a personal message saying they're adults. If I see a request and it's a kid I delete. I also understand pride but I don't understand wanting your kids' pictures to be available to everyone.

I have all of my images locked unless the person is added to my friends list. I just do not get why so many people are this public with info, even phone numbers and addresses I have seen listed. Its nuts!

I, too, have blocked everyone but friends from seeing any of my information or my pictures. It's amazing the amount of information you can gather from someone's profile. It's setting yourself up for identity theft or worse if you ask me.

I don't think your average Facebook user knows as much about the internet as they think that they do. A great many don't realize, or understand the importance of security.

I've never been able to figure out why they use pictures of kids either. I've also heard that is the way a lot of predators get their information. It's just right there for the picking. Most is just common sense.

Even if everything on your profile is locked I'm talking about the profile picture itself which is never blocked from anyone searching. It's just not common sense. Anyone can take that picture and do anything with it.

I am not comfortable with allowing too much information on Facebook or any other social networking site. I've seen people who have put everything including their address and cell phone numbers on there. I just don't think it's safe.
