Default Screaming Kids Inside

Why do kids scream and yell inside? Don't they know they are suppose to use indoor voices? Nothing gives me more of a headache than kids yelling inside for no reason.

Believe me I know what you mean. If it's nice out why not get some squirt guns or water balloons and let them go to town? We do a lot of outdoor activities and that way when we go in they are tired .

Well you have to remember that kids under the age of three or so can't really control the volume of their voice all the time especially if they get excited. When older kids do it send them outside until they get it all out.

I'd do what others have suggest. If they get too loud inside, send them outside. If it's night and you don't want to do that, send them to time out, not especially to punish them, but to give them a chance to settle down.

Kids need to learn that there are limits in life and using inside voices is one of those limits.

They're acting out for attention. I hope I don't get yelled at, but it doesn't need to be like that. I've seen tips such as those handed out by Jo of Supernanny work. It's us, folks -- we teach the kids.
