| I have two dogs, and a fenced in yard. Unfortunately, I would never trust them outside of the fence off leash, as they love to chase cars, and cats.
I know of a friend down the street, whose dog used to get out of their yard all of the time, she ended up buying one of those electric collar things, and it works beautifully. The dog hasn't gone wandering since they started with it.
Though I would agree, putting up a good strong fence would be the best solution. I don't like the idea of electric shocks, so would be reluctant to use it, unless the dog was escaping from a well fenced property.
In Australia, the electric collar system, costs approximately $300.00. Cheaper than a fence, but not sure cruelty wise as to how it would go with your dogs. I would rather spend the money on a fence, consider it an investment for your property, and kindness for your dogs.
I must admit, if I had been inside all of the time, and someone let me out, I would go for a run too!! Typical dog really!! |
