Default Barking

We have a 10 week old Lab mix puppy who is driving me crazy with barking. She has definitely found her voice. I've never had a dog that was a real barker before so I'm not sure how to get her to stop. Any suggestions?

Get a spray bottle with water. Squirt her with it when she misbehaves and give her a verbal command with it (preferably without using her name). When she stops her barking, praise her with her name. Good luck!

That sounds like a great way to do it flowerpower. We had a neighbour whose dog barked and she used to give it a biscuit to shut it up but this meant that the dog got a reward for barking and stopped only as long as it took to eat the biscuit!

Spray bottles are always a good option. You can also try using a kennel and whenever they bark, put them in their. A little bop on the nose won't hurt either, as long as you don't do it that hard.

I give my dogs treats whenever I tell them not to bark and they listen. It takes time but if you have the patience, it will get better. I live in an apartment so it's tough, because I don't want to get kicked out.

I've have some success with barking colors. I used the citrus spray ones. Whenever they barked they would get sprayed. Worked ok with one dog, but the other just smelled good.

LOL @ Jason. Sometimes that's a good reason to have one for a stinky dog! Seriously though, I get the attention of my little Chihuahua barkers by spraying them with water. Now all I have to say is shut up and mention spray and they scatter! LOL
