Our cat got out and was gone for 2 days. He is back now but those were a terrible 2 days for my daughter. How do you console a kid when there pet runs away?

My dog ran away when I was five years old (on my fifth birthday, as a matter of fact) and I still think about it to this day. As with anything traumatic, time heals. That's no consolation to a broken hearted child, but there isn't much you can do other than try to explain the situation and consider getting another pet. I'm happy to hear your cat came back though
