Default Cat hair help

I’m going crazy trying to clean the furniture. I have 3 cats, and they are shedding everywhere. I am constantly sweeping or vacuuming the rugs and bare floors. I swear there are big hair clumps every morning on the kitchen floor. I know with having cats, this is just part of the upkeep.

I need ideas on how to get the hair off the furniture (living room). I’ve tried to use the lint brush (the one with the sticky paper), vacuum, with my hand, and also putting down a blanket where they lay the most. It drives me crazy!

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

You have my sympathies. It seems that some cats shed more than others. I don't know if it is because of the type of carpet and furniture I have; but we don't notice the shedding of our cats that much. Unless, of course we are dressed up and ready to go out; then they have to leave a few hairs on us for good measure.

My sister's house however is another matter. She has 3 long-haired cats and they don't just shed hair, they shed hair clumps. I can't even breathe when I go into her house and I have two cats of my own. If there is a solution to cat hair, I sure hope we find it. Her family and my family are all on allergy pills; partially probably due to the cats we love.

Tell me about it I'm also on allergy pills due to the cats. I love them though so it's worth it.

I'm seriously thinking of getting the older cat a hair cut (shaved in the summer). I know she will look funny, but she won't shed as much or cough up hair balls.

She seems to be the one that sheds the most. None of the cats are long hair either, so it's odd that they shed as much as they do.

I have 2 small dogs that lose there hair like anything, so I get where you are coming from. I'm not sure if cat hair is any different from dog hair, but I just have a really good vacuum cleaner.

I would use a vacuum cleaner (the hose part) and then also try those lint brushes with sticky paper.

I also use a brush on my cats. I can't believe the amount of hair it takes off the cats, more hair off means less on the furniture.

I can sympathize with this topic. I have only one indoor cat, but man, oh man, what a mess he leaves in his favorite spots. The other day I moved a light tan colored blanket that I had on the couch and there was such a huge clump of dark fur on it that at first glance I thought it was stained, lol. Vacuuming helps, but I can never seem to get ALL the hair up. I guess the only way to really eliminate it is to get rid of the animal, but that will never happen here - he's a member of the family!

I understand also. With all my pets there is always hair everywhere. We try to vaccuum every two days or so. My biggest focus though, tends to be on making sure that I don't have hair on my clothes when I go out for work. Lint brushes are great for that.

I applaud you people for having animals in your home! I could never do that, because I can't stand the hair laying everywhere. But this is even harder for for me because I adore cats!
