Default Cat sitting makes me nervous

I am cat sitting my neighbors cat this weekend. He is a very good friend of mine and sadly his dad died last week. They are going to Kentucky for the week. It makes me nervous to watch someone else's pet.

Try not to feel nervous around the cat. They can sense those things and the cat will be freaked enough with it's owner out of town. Give it plenty of cuddles if it will let you. Sometimes sitting quietly will help put it at ease. Don't be afraid to post any questions. Good luck and thanks for being a good friend. It's hard to trust someone with a pet.

I agree, chances of something happening to it while your friend is gone is pretty low. I am sure everything will be just fine. Cats are pretty independent so give it space unless it starts feeling lonely and wants to be played with.

Why? Are you afraid that the cat might get out and not come back to you? I have cat sat many times and had no problems. Just follow the owner's directions.

Most cats will be fine. If it decides it wants companionship, it will come out and greet you. I wouldn't worry about it right now. Just follow their instructions and keep the litter box clean and everything should be fine.

Are you actually keeping the cat at your house? You said neighbor so wasn't sure if this was a next door neighbor and you are just keeping and eye on it and feeding it while they are gone or keeping it inside you home. I wouldn't be nervous about it. Just try to show it a lot of attention while you have it and go by whatever instructions you were given, if any.

Don't be nervous as long as you feed and water him he will probably be pretty content to be left alone. I am sure you will do jut fine.
