Cats eat green grass because it makes them vomit up furballs that are stuck. If there is no grass they will settle for green leaves.

Cats are usually pretty precautious about what they eat so I wouldn't worry about them eating a poisoned plant- on that note I DO NOT recommend putting any kind of chemical on plants that may harm the kitties!
