Default Declaw

I already know the good and bad that can come from this but I just wanted to get some thoughts on those who have been through this before. We love our cat, we want to keep her but we can no longer handle the claws. We have been victims, our child, our other pets and our house (she gets too hyper). Who has been through this already with a cat? Thanks!

I had my first cat declawed. That was back when it was the norm to do it. Honestly, that cat was fine. In fact it would get out from time to time and could still hunt, kill and defend itself. If you are having that many problems then I think it is time to consider it. It would be better than having to get rid of the cat all together.

I know a lot of people say it's torture to the cat but I think it's ok too. I have never had a cat declawed but I did think about it - and I am still thinking about it.
