Default Flea treatment for cats

I have an indoor cat who gets out every now and again. I want to treat him for fleas to prevent him from bringing any in. Is there a good all natural treatment or do I have to use chemicals?

You can use a herbal shampoo that uses any of the following:
Pine Cedar
Bergamot
Rosemary
Lavender
Eucalyptus
Citronella
Juniper
Geranium

I know for dogs, garlic in their food work. Not sure how cats react to it. Consult your vet first.

Vinegar and water, in equal parts work well for the bedding, and other indoor flea spots.

I have never really thought about the ideas of treating fleas/ticks via the herbal route. I have always been stuck with the advantage type products that are OTC but tend to cost a tad more.

My cats always wore flea collars and we had absolutely no problem with fleas. Of course I expect that they were full of chemicals but since only the fleas were affected I wasn't bothered!
