Does anyone know if you need to treat for heart worms year round? I heard that only during the season when misquotes are most ramped up is when you need to treat.

Most vets recommend year round treatment, but I don't do it. I usually stop in November and resume in February or March. Some people may say it's not worth the risk, so I guess it's really up to you.

I would do it all year round but if you don't please be sure to test for heart worms before starting them back on the medication. I guess it would also have something to do with where you live and if you have problems with mosquitoes.

If you live in a place where insects get killed out by cold during the winter, I don't see the reason to continue to treat. In my neck of the woods, there aren't any mosquitoes around during the winter.
