Default Hermit crabs

Does anyone here know about hermit crabs? We bought one while on vacation about five months ago and it seems to be doing fine, but we don't really know anything about them. We were thinking about getting it a larger environment and a friend. I don't know that a larger environment is necessary though because it doesn't move around much. As for a friend, I wonder if it prefers to be alone.

Hermit crabs are community animals. They love to have buddies, but be careful. If the new crab has a bigger, or better shell, you might hear the crabs bickering. They make such a strange sound, when they talk. Also remember to keep a wet sponge, in the tank for humidity, and some bigger shells for the crabs to move in to. About the tank, a bigger one is a good idea. You might not see the hermit crab move much, because they are nocturnal. I had a big tank, with a coconut fiber backdrop, and a huge limb for my crabs to climb on. At night, you could hear the crabs chatter and climb all over the tank.
