I bought a leopard gecko for my son in 2006 and I have to say it's one of the easiest pets I've ever owned. You can handle them but we don't handle ours since it has bit my husbands fingers before. We recently put sand in the bottom of it's cage and it seems to be happier. I say it because I don't know if it's a boy or a girl. Apparently, you have to flip them over and look at the base of their tails which I would have to handle it to do that and I'm not going to do it, so we just named it Gecko. I know, not original but that's what my son wanted to call it.
