Default Lump on dog

My dog has a lump near her right hind leg. She is about 9 years old now. I just noticed it last week. It does not seem to bother her unless you touch it. I made an appointment at the Vets for her – next week. I’m hoping it is not cancer.

It's good that you are taking her to get it checked. It could be anything so don't worry until you get it checked out and good luck. I wish her the best.

Hopefully, it's something benign such as a fatty tumor. I had a golden lab with one of those and he was about ten. They're very common in middle-aged and older dogs. I hope you get a good report.

I have seen it work in two ways. One dog a family member had was 60 pounds overweight (ugh) and got a lump. The lump was benign and nothing was necessary.

On the other hand, my mom had a Boxer with a black lump on his thigh and apparently it was a type of cancer.

Either way, getting it checked out is a great idea.

Flower, We had a dog suddenly develop lumps and we were quite worried about it. Turns out that these were just fatty cysts. There could be many other causes of lumps for example: If you think your dog may have tangled with another animal it could be an abscess from an infected bite. There is a very good chance that it is not cancer. I hope it all works out well for you guys.

Please let us know how it turns out.
