What is the deal with cats and the paper fascination? My cat will hunt down her prey from across the room. It can be the newspaper, a magazine or even scrap paper that needs tossed in the recycle bin. What's the deal?

They also have a fascination with toilet paper! Our kitten, who is now almost 5 months old, loves to get a hold of roll of it. We need to remember to keep the bathroom door closed because he will just roll it off the holder. He has made some big messes!

I don't know what it is but I'm glad my cats are the only ones that do this. I can be wrapping presents and they think that they need to lay on the wrapping paper. They always tear apart the Sunday paper too.

Well, I'm glad you guys shared. I thought my cat was just weird. She has settled down a bit since getting spayed last month but she still goes nuts when we cut coupons into the living room trash can. She climbs in to play with the paper scraps, usually making a mess as she tosses them back out of the can.

Mine has more issues with plastic bags than anything else. Of course she will still sit on paper if its somewhere she can reach but she will take a plastic bag over paper any day.

I couldn't even read the morning news without my cat horning in. It never failed! The minute I sat down to read the paper, here comes my cat trying to sit it. He used to chew all our socks up too! Weirdo!

I don't have a cat any more, but the one I used to have loved jumping into paper bags. You could leave a large paper bag on it's side on the floor and she would take a run and launch herself into it!

Our cat does this as well. He doesn’t so much hunt the paper down, he just wants to lay right in the middle of it while you are reading. Perhaps he is jealous.
