Default pet dishes

How do you keep the dog from the cat dish and the cat from the dog dish? It seems like our pets are little piggies and will get into any dish on the floor lately.

We try putting them in separate rooms and feed them at the same time. At least that way they each have time to eat some of their own food. Usually we will pick their dishes up off the floor after they have eaten enough then put them back down later in the day or at night.

We only feed the animals when we are in the room. We don't leave food down all day. Our cats are on diets so they can't have endless food all day. Our dog is too busy eating his own food to try to bother with the cats food.

We keep the cat food in the laundry room with a baby gate across the doorway to keep the dogs out. The cat doesn't bother the dog food, so we keep the dogs' bowls in the kitchen.

We feed ours in separate rooms but they don't really bother each ohters food very often. So I guess we are lucky as it isn't much of a concern for us.

We know that its old history that fight between can and dog so we should try to give them food in different plate and try to keep them little far from each other while its time for eat.

Since we leave the cat food out all the time, we put it up on a shelf in the laundry room. The cats can reach it but the dog can't. The dog only eats once a day and he won't let the cats near his food.

We had to start kennel feeding the dog for the very same reason. I am thinking about doing something like this where the bowls are on the inside of a dedicated cabinet.

When you can have up to three pets in the room at the same time it does get messy. Between them and the kiddo I swear I am mopping once a day lately too. We still have yet to come up to anything reasonable other than crating the dog, now the cats fight over "their bowls".
