We live far from any road or cars that would hurt our animals so my cats roam during the day. I only insist they come in at night because of the coyotes that are around. The other night, I was letting my oldest cat in the house and she was acting weird and looking out in the yard. I looked out and there was a small black bear! I grabbed her up and shut the door. It finally ambled away but it scared the begeeus out of both of us. I'm glad she has enough sense to be scared of them!
