Default Pills for pets?

I know many pet owners hide the medicine for their pets in the food but when that is not an option what do you do? Is it okay to crush a pill up and mix it with water so you can be sure the pet gets it?

I would check with the Vet on something like that. Some pills you aren't suppose to crush or cut up so just make sure it is ok to do that. It can be really hard to give pills to cats or very small dogs, so know what you are talking about!

I would check too - I'm not sure about putting it in water. We have always just put the pill in the pets mouth and helped them swallow. You know by rubbing their neck - to get them to swallow. If that doesn't work you can try blowing in their nose.

Sunny - we have done the same as you. Our Vet actually told us the easiest way was to put the pill in their mouth and then hold their mouth and blow in their nose. They swallow right away.

Every vet we have had always says to stick them inside of treats but our cat is totally against it, she will dig them out to put it aside, eat the treat and walk off. I wonder if you can get some of the medicines in liquid form?
