My parents have been on vacation for just over a week. My daughter and I have been taking care of their cat (Gracie). She is really mad right now, and lonely too. Every time we go (every night when I get out of work) she meows loud and won’t leave you alone. My Aunt has been going over in the day with hopes to spend time with her. Gracie hides and won’t come out! Cats are so funny!
Yes she is probably lonely and misses your parents. They know when something isn't as it should be. Is it possible to bring her home with you? Sounds like she isn't to fond of your Aunt if she hides and won't come out. Maybe she can entice her out with time. Hopefully you parents won't be gone to much longer.
I take care of my parent's cats at times too. They are so finicky when my parents aren't home. They are cuddly when they are home. It's funny! I would not be able to bring my parents cat here to my home. I have my own cats and it would not be fair to either of them.
Treats go a long way when you are sitting for other people, both for kids and for pets. We had a similar issue watching someones dog for two weeks while they had to travel back for a funeral. The first week was horrible, the 2nd week we starting bribing him.
I did the pet sit thing years ago and it was a horrible experience with a bird. I almost ended up losing a few thousand dollar pet of a friend and it was the longest weekend ever. I refuse to pet sit again.
