Default Is your pet spayed/neutered?

Would just like to take an informal poll. Please feel free to discuss your decision if you would like to share.

Yes, and I'm so glad we did it early enough so it wouldn't be such a stress for her later. The thing I remember most is the day we brought her (our cat Destiny) back home, she tried to climb up on the edge of the bathtub and screamed from the pain. I'll never forget that horrible sound.

Yes we have a dog and a couple of cats and they have all been 'done'. They are all rescue animals and I wanted to ensure that they would not be responsible for more unwanted animals.

I talk about this in another thread, but yes, both of my dogs are spayed. I could not stand the thought of the responsibility of puppies again.

We have two cats and two dogs, both cats are spayed and one of the dogs. We are waiting to hopefully breed from the other dog This will be done with her original breeder, and the breeder will be responsible to find homes for the puppies. I couldn't sell them to anyone, I feel too responsible, and worry that the owners won't look after them as well as I would.
So far, we have been unsuccessful, she has always come into heat when we are unable to drive the 3 hours to the breeder, or the breeder was away at a show.
Touchwood, we catch her heat early enough to be organised this time.

I have five indoor dogs and two cats and every one of them is spayed or neutered. It's an essential as far as I'm concerned. The only problem we have is we didn't get the two males neutered soon enough to prevent them from wanting to mark everything in the house. I'm constantly cleaning and trying to correct them.

I had my 12 year old cat spayed as soon as she was old enough too. I hate seeing all the stray cats that are around. It saddens me. I believe that it should be a law that everybody has to have their cat spayed or neutered.

There are too many animals who don't have homes. I don't mind taking in strays but enough has got to be enough. I'm reaching my saturation point with cats though. I've taken every one that will let me catch it to the vet and had them spayed or neutered but there are a bunch that are wild and won't let me catch them. I guess I'm going to have to set live traps and catch them and take them to the vet.

Mine are all spayed because I got them through rescue organizations. I'm not sure how happy I am about spaying and neutering, but I didn't have a choice with mine.

I think it's so important to get your animals desexed. There are so many poor animals homeless in shelters all around the country thanks to negligent owners who cannot care for their animals or refuse to get them desexed. It's the best thing for the animal especially females for when they go on heat, well that's not a pretty sight. Also it can take the agression out of males and stop them from fighting and humping their owners leg!
