Our dog is not spayed and I don't know that we ever will. She stays inside so it's not like we are being irresponsible about breeding or anything.

Spaying and neutering is the only responsible decision if you are a pet owner. There are too many unwanted animals euthanized each year. If you bring it into your house, it's your job to take care of it!!

I don't think it is irresponsible not to have it done. My dog is a member of the family, and having her spayed is an unnecessary surgery that carries it's own risks. I am not willing to have her take that risk. She is not allowed to roam free and she is never outside alone. Having an animal altered surgically is not the ONLY way to be a responsible owner.
