Default Books Everywhere!

I am terribly bad about hoarding books. I'm the type that reads things I like again and again. But I'm getting overrun with books. I have a lot of reference books and books from family I don't want to get rid of. So where do I store all of these. I did go through them and gave 10 boxes to the local library. That's right 10 boxes. I told you I hoarded them. I still have many, many more.

Wow Fleur I don't know what to say. I'm not a big collector of books but my guess would be to buy a couple of large book cases and not buy anymore books. Also maybe you should have a garage sale. I don't think people really need all these books and if you've read them once or twice why would you need to read them again. If they are reference books that's another matter I'd just keep the more suitable ones and throw the rest out. Books can be just another item people collect and think they need for one reason or the other. You may get some good money out of the sale and if you ever regret selling a book and need to look something up there's always the internet thank god!

Well, I think you made a good start by getting 10 boxes out of the house. I think you just need to keep going through them and sorting out the ones you won't miss so much. And maybe consider getting one of those e-book wireless reading devices.

I can't give much advice because I am the same way. One thing I did start doing is checking books out of the library, and I look up info on the internet before buying a book.

Bookcases; lots and lots of bookcases, lol. Right now I actually have a very large one that is built into the wall of my office, and I think I need to buy another one to put in the kitchen somewhere. My dream house will have all walls as bookcases, I think!

So, right before I moved, my friends made me get rid of 6 suitcases. That's right, 6 suitcases full of books. I donated them to friends of the library. I have three large bookshelves full and a whole bunch of books in my room. Most people just don't understand why we keep them around.

I think a good idea is storage bins. Do you have a garage or shed that you might be able to keep them in. They would be fine outdoors as long as you keep them in a storage bin.

If you can go through them again and stand to give additional books away, my suggestion would be to donate them to a local homeless shelter or a women's shelter. The last thing many of these people can afford is to buy books. To be able to read in order to escape would probably be a blessing to many.

Ten boxes! That's a lot of books to donate. I think you can give away some of the rest books and move to ebooks. Now you can read ebooks comfortably using a Kindle or other ereaders.
