Default To each their own

Does everyone in the house have their own thing that they help to keep clean and tidy? I have started to do this with our youngest who helps for anything related to her.

Ie:
Her laundry, she helps me with it, I supervise and do the hard stuff (pouring) but otherwise its all her. Then her room too and her toys which are downstairs.

Now if I can just talk my husband into it.

At home, we have some sort of a division of labor, and so far, I haven't heard any complaints. I guess everybody is already used to the system and has fully embraced it...I do the kitchen cleaning. That's my territory.

Well we don't have any kids to help out yet, but my husband does do his fair share around the house. We both seem to have chores we naturally gravitate too though.

The wife told me that I'm to take care of the outside, she'll take care of the inside. However, I will help out inside, until she yells at me and kicks me out of whatever I'm doing.

Haha...In our household, there seems to be an unspoken rule - Girls take charge of the kitchen, the living room, and everything that has to do with the inside, while boys take care of the front and back yards, and the garage. It looks like we're still practicing the traditional thought of 'feminine' vs 'masculine' tasks.

I clean every week but there are some days when I am just not in the mode for it. Someone I know is a few years younger than me and when she cleans they tend to party all weekend (one small child, about 2) and then she spends 4 days cleaning up their house after what would look like a dorm party. I just do not get some peoples cleaning ways I guess, mine are simple.

Each of our kids is different. My middle child is amazing. She does dishes, cleans her room and helps the little one clean hers. The little one is catching on and wants to clean her room in the morning. Our son on the other hand.... might be a lost cause.

My cousin has a set of teens who are like that, and since its a 4 bedroom home with 3 kids at home its crazy for her two. The two she has that are not the best of cleaners also share a room since the youngest was born. I could not imagine having 2 adult kids, 2 teens and a newborn at the same time!!

That would be really difficult. Your bound to have a kid or two who do not want to help. That can seem really unfair to the others that do. Plus the older kids have to set the example and if they don't that could be trouble.

At this rate I am about to start charging people to come visit my family in our home, they leave the place wrecked and its not just kids - adults too. What happened to cleaning up after your own mess?
