Default Getting rid of CDs

In an effort to stay organized I have considered getting rid of my CDs and just putting all my music on my computer, iPod, and a portable hard drive. What do you think? I think I'm going to have a lot more shelf space and less clutter.

I do not use CDs anymore. I have most of my music on computers/mp3 players. It makes it a lot easier. I still have some CDs though, and they collect dust.

Just a quick and innocent question. What happens when the system you have the music on breaks? I mean, you never know what could happen. If you have the storage space, I'd say keep them in case. I have a lot of CD's still and even cassette tapes.

My cd's dont take up much room at all. I ditched the cases long ago and just keep them in a cd album. One album can hold hundreds of disks. I keep my dvds in albums too.

I think that's the point of multiple devices. Have them on the iPod, iTunes on the computer, and a portable hard drive. All three are unlikely to break at the same time.

I wouldn't do it, but then again I'm attached to my CD's. I hated getting rid of my cassette tapes too but I did it. My parents still have some 8track tapes!

I've learned a long time ago, and have been in the computer repair business to know that you need to have backups, and multiple at that. Hard drive space is cheap today, not to mention online storage space on top of that.

I've seen too many people who did not back up that important document for work, the family trip pictures to xyz, or other items they deemed irreplaceable.

I'm with you, Livvie! Then again, I hate to throw anything away. I also like to have the tangible disc on hand. That said, if you're okay with parting with them, you will likely have a lot more space.

I keep my cd`s in a storage case. I thought about junking them, but I am too paranoid something will happen, and I will regret getting rid of them.
