Default Moving advice

I haven't moved in years. All I remember of it is that I hate it. In a few months we'll be moving for my husband's job and I need some tips to help me stay focused and organized.

I have moved a lot and the best advice I can give you is to start early and stay organized. Keep everything from one room together and mark it well with markers on the outside of the box. Do not mix rooms to fill a box and do not wait until the last minute.

What you need is a to do list or in your case a packing list so that you can find stuff quickly when you unpack. Usually what we'll use are large plastic see-through boxes for organizing most of the stuff.

Maybe a smart thing would be to pack small things from each room separately so you can easily find them later. Anyway, these are my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input! I have about ten boxes packed and I'm proud of my organization so far. I just hope it continues on this track! Moving is just such a hassle to me and I tend to lose my mind halfway through the process. I think I need to take OCDQueen's advice and get everything possible packed now.

Moving for me is not that big of a deal, probably because I haven't moved in a while and forgot what's that like. But painting is what I don't like.

Redecorating and painting the apartment/house is really a pain because you need to cover all the furniture and things which makes the house even a bigger mess than just moving the stuff to another location.
