I am at the stage where I have a set of old shoes for the kids and I am about to get a set of new shoes. One kid just needs nice stuff for school and another needs that plus is growing fast. Between the 3 kids and us, we have a ton of shoes. How do you organize all of your shoes?

Each of us has a door organizer that hangs from the door. Every person is responsible to keep their shoes in it. Everyone can have 1 pair of shoes in the downstairs closet.

I have tried a lot of things and given up. I make the kids take their shoes to their room, but outside of that I don't do anything special to keep all the shoes organized. I just don't want them all over the house.

The adults have a few more shoes than the kids now but not many. Most of our extra shoes are kept in the laundry/extra closet room, we have our regular ones that are kept in the office (on the flip side of our two desks, then the slippers in the living room under a side table).

This is exactly why I told my husband that our next house had darn well better have a coat closet. We don't have one right now, so we are two adults and one two year old (who refuses to wear shoes) and I have six pairs of shoes on a mat by my front door right now. It drives me crazy having that mess out in the open like that.
