Default Room Fragrance

I was wondering, what everyone uses to freshen the air, in your home? Do you light candles, set out gel cones, use plug-in freshners, or room sprays? What have you found, that leaves a long lasting, pleasant room smell?

I actually like to burn incense. I can't really go through the whole thing at once because they are strong, but for a quick smell I use them. Many times when I have guests over, I'll bake those instant chocolate chip cookies before the come over so it will smell like that. I have plug-ins and scented candles too. I don't like sprays.

I use the gel cones, in the apple cinnamon scent, in my bathrooms. In the kitchen, and living room, I use candles that are locally made. One of the candles smells like creamsicle, and is heavenly.

I usually prefer to open the doors for about an hour a day unless the weather is inclement. It makes the house smell so fresh to have the air to blow through.

I use the fresh air, too. I used to avoid it because of allergies, but I'm opening and closing doors constantly anyway because of the dogs. Potpourri is nice. In the winter, sometimes I'll burn scented candles.

I make my own. I mix Eucalyptus, cassia, litsea, peppermint, and a hint of pine with water in a spray bottle. This makes a wonderful bathroom freshener. It's a bit wintry smelling but it takes care of bathroom odor better than any commercial freshener.

If you want a summer smell you can mix orange, lemongrass and ylang ylang and it gives a beautiful scent to your home.

You can buy the oils for a good price online if you buy in quantity. Also make sure you get essential oils not fragrance oils. Fragrance oils are artificial.

I have some ylang ylang and I love it, but what is litsea? I have never heard of it before. I would love something that smells like it does on a nice windy day.

I turn on a wax burner in the morning and then light candles in the afternoon. I like to change things up a bit and both are strong enough fragrances to make the whole house smell nice.

I'm getting some interesting ideas from all of you. I use the gel cones in the bathroom (cinnamon). I also have the plug-in fresheners in the living room, kitchen, and bedroom. They work really well because the cats won't mess with them.
