I am looking for an inexpensive way to build shelves in a couple of closets we have around the house. Does anybody have any ideas for shelves that will be sturdy but not too expensive?

IKEA! Ikea has a lot of cheap and nasty stuff but there shelving is actually really good. Another thing you can try is going to the hardware store and buying the brackets seperately then buying a plank of wood. It'll be in the closet anyways, so it doesn't matter if it doesn't match.

Buying brackets from the hardware store is the easiest and cheapest way to do it. Just be sure you get the right size brackets and of the wood to put on top of the brackets
