Default Swiffer

What is your opinion of the Swiffer brand products? When they first came on the market, I had their duster and their sweeper, but buying all those pads and cloths seemed ridiculous. Have they gotten any better or do you still have to buy a ton of replacement stuff for their products?

I would be very careful of that. My friend got one of those and later that year his cat died. His vet believes it was due to the chemicals in the Swiffer.

Sorry to hear about the cat but I do think I remember hearing something about that before. I personally think they are a pain to use. Most things like that are but it just depends on what you like.

I don't like them. I do occasionally use the dry cloths but the Wet Jet is not a good product. I thought I would be crafty and reuse the bottle with my own vinegar and water solution. It didn't take long for the thing to tear up. The vinegar made the spring loaded thing rust and it was unusable after that.

I have a flat mop that I use with a detachable part that I can just toss in the washing machine when I am do. I have never used these before and I doubt I would with pets & kids around.

That is really scary about the cat! I have never heard that before. I will caution my friends that use house cleaning businesses to make sure the companies are not using those kind of cleaners on the floor. Me, I like good old Lysol!

I have been using Swiffer (have a cat and it has seemed to hurt him). I still have a broom and mop but the Swiffer helps with a quick clean up on occasion, like if I have somebody about to come over.

Do you know if you can use any of these on hard wood floors or no-wax floors? I was thinking of getting a Swiffer wet-jet for the kitchen (no-wax) but I don't want it to leave a film on the floor.

Sorry I did not answer the question, I just had a question too!

I hate the Swiffer Wet-Jet. I have an older no-wax floor and it's not doing well with it. It is leaving a lot of residue or film on this floor. But it's quite old. I don't know if that's the reason or not. I understand it works very well with laminate flooring.

I have the swiffer wet jet and swiffer duster. I love them both but have abandoned them due to environmental concerns. The cost of the products was not a problem because I would get them for next to nothing during drug store sales in conjunction with coupons but I felt too guilty about the environmental impact. I would like to get a steam mop to replace my swiffer.
