Our house is a "no shoe zone". We all take off our shoes before entering and slip on some nice slippers. We even keep extra slippers for guests. I never thought I'd be like this but it's really so much nicer. The house is so much cleaner and slippers are so much more comfortable than shoes.
99% of our company also removes their shoes before entering our home. I think they know to do it because they see the shoe rack outside of the door and realize that we are a shoe-free house!
How many of you here don't like shoes in the house? Do you find that most of your guests also take off their shoes? Do you invite people to take off their shoes or just hope they catch on?
My husband and I never wear shoes in the house, but company usually does. I don't mind guests wearing shoes because we usually go in and out a lot and I wouldn't expect them to keep taking their shoes off and putting them back on.
Most of us usually take off our shoes as soon as we come in the house but I don't really expect guest to do the same. If they want to, then that's fine.
I don't always take off my shoes at home. I've got a really good vacuum and carpet cleaner so it's not a big deal. I won't go in with wet shoes, but any other time is fine. I don't ask my company to take off their shoes either.
