Default Toys organization

Is there a better way to organize toys other than a toy box. It always seems that the stuff on the bottom gets crushed and broken and forgotten about. It seems like a waste of money on toys for them to end up at the bottom of a toy box.

Shelves! I think shelves are the best way to organize any room. You can put items on the shelf and keep it off the ground. I also love those big clear containers with lids.

Well I was going to suggest the shelf idea too. You can put quite a bit on them. The bigger toys you can put on the bottom shelf and do the rest accordingly. Depends on if girl or boy and what kind of toys they have.

I like the shelf sugestion for the rest of the house, but if your kids are anything like mine they will climb all over them. For now we are going with plastic storage containers with lids.

I have started to use box shelves and it comes in handy since it feels more like a "big kid" type thing. The youngest picks up all of her toys every night before bed and she adores the new shelves.

A friend of ours used to use a Portland house cleaning business to do all of her house cleaning once a week, and those cleaning ladies were excellent in suggestions of what would make her life easier. The one gal suggested that you use the toy box (or shelves) but rotate the toys in and out of them. That way, every week or two, the kids are excited about the toys they have not seen in a while. We started doing this at my house with just the toy box, and it works really well! Also, there is less mess this way!
