Default Chlorine

We have done so much swimming this summer that the chlorine has wreaked havoc on my skin, hair, and nails. What do you do to help when you do a lot of swimming?

I love to swim in the summertime, but I also try to make sure the chlorine levels are appropriate so that it doesn't bother me much. I do have to wash my hair more though.

Make absolutely sure you rinse off after a swim to get the chlorine off of your hair and skin. I also try to do an olive oil hair treatment at least once a week if not more. Warm a bit of olive oil to body temp and work it through your hair. Wrap your hair in a towel that's been warmed up in the dryer and sit for at least 15 to 30 minutes. Then shampoo it out and condition your hair as you usually do. As far as skin and nails, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. I found an olive oil based cuticle oil that you massage into your nails and cuticles as often as need be. Works like a charm.

I uses olive oil as a deep treatment 3 nights a week on my skin and 1 night a week on my hair. It helps to keep my skin and hair healthy throughout both the summer and the winter.

It's killing my skin! I keep getting outbreaks of eczema after I swim too much! I even moisturize a lot. I wash my hair every other day and condition every day. I think that helps my hair.

Unfortunately, this is the main reason that I avoid swimming, even in nice weather - my skin is just too sensitive for it. It quickly becomes dry and itchy, and some particularly sensitive areas (won't go into details ) become unbearably uncomfortable. Rinsing off right afterward doesn't seem to prevent this, although it does help.
