Default Driving Lessons

I started my driving lessons today, at the ripe old age of 31 years old. It feels very strange to be starting now, and odd to have the instructor saying how nice it is to have an adult in the car with him for a change. I feel so old! Also shaky after that first run out..... my knees are still wobbly!

I felt the same when I had my very first driving lesson at 40. I was so nervous I ditched the car and ruined the front bumper.

Why did you two start so late? I had drivers ED in high school and my dad too. I was 15. I was scared to death and there was my dad just sitting there like it was just a drive through town lol. I do know a few people that never learned to drive and are too scared to try. There are too many crazy drivers out there.

I wasn't able to learn at that age-I was suffering a seizure condition. I haven't seized since I was 17, and am now clear to drive, so it's time to get on the road.

Hamster, it is never too late to learn. Everyone has something new to learn at every stage in their life and for you that would be driving. Good luck and I hope you will do well.

Yes, it's never too late to learn. I got my driving lesson at 25. Actually I asked brother to teach me first so that I didn't get so much problem when taking my driving lessons.

Better late than never! I bet you are excited about being able to just get in the car and go where you want! I learned when I was 15 but I think that being you are older you will have a more calm attitude which will help you.

Welcome to the world of driving! I think it's great and agree that it's never too late. I learned very young. I never took driver's ed because I actually paid for a driving school and then got my license the day after my 16th birthday (which was on a Sunday). Was I anxious? Oh yeah!

Congrats, you are on your way to some level of freedom. Being able to drive yourself where ever you want whenever you want is a big deal.
