I'm in Pensacola, Florida right now and I heard the most idiotic story on a local radio station. There was a seven year old girl with a lemonade stand in her yard and someone who worked for the Health Department or some such thing showed up and told her she had to either shut it down or pay $120 for a permit. I'm not sure if this happened around here or if the DJ saw it on the news somewhere else, but that is just absurd.


The little girl had the lemonade on ice and all the neighbors came over to get a cup. When the neighbors started arguing with the official leave the girl alone, the official threatened to fine her and all of them too. What has this world come to that a kid can't have a lemonade stand anymore?

I've heard that before. I agree that it is a stupid thing. Sometimes I think officials tend to follow the stupid laws and let the important ones go ignored.

I think that "official" could better spend his or her time checking out the may restaurants with violations instead of harrassing a little girl! If it was me or my neighborhood I would be calling supervisors.

I wonder if there is a legal way to get around it or not. Something like she can give out only the products and if someone wants help they can then decide to give her a 'gift' or not.
