Default Restaurants and Reservations....What's Up?

I do realize that some restaurants are very busy most of the time so it's a good idea to make reservations. But, what about those that you go to and when you walk in the door, that is the first thing they ask. You look around and there is hardly anyone there! I think I would feel kind of silly asking that question when the place was almost empty.

I remember the days when reservations were the norm at most good restaurants. These days, it seems like so many places don't even take them. I would actually prefer a restaurant that accepted reservations even if they're not busy to ones that don't take them at all.

I agree with you Buttercup. Sometimes it comes in very handy to have a reservation when you are planning on eating at a certain time. There is nothing worse then having to wait for an hour or more just to get a table.

I know what you mean CJ, we've been to restaurants when they were almost empty and they ask if we have a reservation? I do understand though that most of the time it is good to have one when you know the place will be crowded.

Most of the restaurants that we go to you don't have to make reservations. I only make them if we have a lot of people or if we are in a hurry. I would feel funny asking if you have a reservation too, if the place was empty.

I really do not get it either but I can understand it a point. What happens if the place was booked for half of their filling list for a party or something and they had no idea if you were with the "party" or not.
