Default Biscuits from scratch

Does anyone know how to make homemade biscuits from scratch? My grandmother tries to tell me, but her measurements go like this..."about this much flour and this much lard" and she just measures it out in her hand...I can't do that by eye. I need actual measurements like a cup of this or a teaspoonful of that.

My wife used to use Bisquick to make biscuits and they tasted good. She makes them from scratch now because she uses more wheat flour and very little white flour. If you want one that uses white flour, I can't help, but if you want to use wheat flour, I'll get my wife's recipe.
