Default Boca burgers - really?

Today for lunch in the cafeteria at work they served Boca burgers. I’m telling you that these things looked pretty bad but they smelled even worse! I’m all for people eating what they want to – but I can’t imagine how anyone could eat these. What exactly is in a “Boca burger”? I know it’s not meat (called meatless Mondays here). I’m curious to know what is in them.

Boca is a brand name. They made different types of meatless (veggie) burgers, but I've never tried them. They are made with soy protein and wheat gluten, which might be the reason they looked and smelled bad to you. I have tried other veggie burgers and they looked and tasted good.

I refuse to eat any of the "fake meat" junk. Someone gave us a box of "chicken" one time and it was filled with paper. I mean literally you could pull out little pieces of paper. If people want to eat paper they could just eat paper and save a whole lot of money on these "alternative meat" products.

I like the Morningstar Farms vegetarian products better. They seem to have more of a taste to me. You can purchase textured vegetable protein and make your own meatless burgers, but they aren't as good as the ones in the stores that are already made up.

I eat veggie burgers all the time. I eat meat but sometimes I just want a veggie burger. Boca isn't my favorite brand, Morningstar is better (like FishHead said). I've never tasted anything wrong with them. Maybe it was the way they were cooked?

I do like the Boca Brats but I have to agree with everyone else, Morningstar farms is much better. I also eat meat but I've been trying to decrease my cholesterol which is why I've gone to decreasing my meat intake.

As a long time (20 years) vegetarian, I have tried just about every meatless brand there is and Boca is on the bottom of my list for taste. Of the brands that are now readily available in most grocery stores, Morningstar Farms is definitely much better.

Yuk! Is what I say. Have I tried them? No and I won't. I do think it's great that there are veggie burgers for people who don't eat meat. I'm not one of those people.

I'm not sure what is in them!
