How have the used book been. Is there much damage to them? The prices seem good.

No, it's just like an eBay thing... you put in the name of the book you want and then it will say like "25 new and used" and then open that. You get to choose which one you want. I always look for the condition (many are like new) and then I check the seller's ratings. I never choose anything in poor or "acceptable" condition and not even "good." I like "like new" or very good condition.

If they have a good rating, I just see which seller I want to buy from... they're supposed to mention if it's a former library copy. I can get those (but don't usually) for a penny sometimes or a nickel, etc.

One thing to watch, though, is that sometimes by the time you pay the $3.99 shipping for a book, even if the book's just like a dollar or two, it would make more sense just getting a new one at Amazon if it's just like $7.99 and you'll be getting the free shipping.

Just takes a little detective work, but I've gotten some great books and movies that way.

I love to can and preserve! I freeze a lot too! I think it's the squirrel in me that makes me do it! It just makes me feel good to have a lot of stuff put up for the winter. I like home grown potatoes too, they just taste better.

Canning is one of the best parts of our summer months. We can everything that we are able to that is grown out of our garden or bought at the local farmer's market. One of our family favorites is to can salsa so that we have it available basically fresh all year.

Farmer's markets are great! I really should learn how to can... the thought is exciting to me.

I don't really have enough freezer space, even with a spare fridge in the garage... and we lose power sometimes after storms and it can stay off for a long time. That tends to make me not want to have very much frozen food on hand.

I can every year. I make strawberry jam, salsa, spaghetti sauce, apple sauce, pear sauce and a dozen other things. I freeze things from the garden like broccoli and cauliflower, corn ect. I love this time of year, there is so much you can do in your own yard.
