Default Chinese Food

We love to eat Chinese food. My family and I have been trying not to go out to eat so much, but it seems that this is our weakness.

I would love to learn how to cook some of the things we eat. It might be easier to give up on eating out at Chinese a lot.

Does anybody know how to make peanut chicken? It's chicken in a peanut butter sauce.

What about any other Chinese recipes (other than stir fry)?

We love Chinese food as well but I find no matter how hard I try to make it 'authentic', it never turns out the same. Has anyone else had this problem?

The closest I've got to making chinese food is buying the pre-made frozen stir-fry mixes at the supermarket. You get a bag of veggies and "sauce chips" which you melt in a skillet and then add strips of chicken or beef to. I've had the Sweet & Sour, Lo Mein, and Teryaki, and all have been good. Very healthy and low-calorie, too!

Mine never turns out the same either. I don't know if it's the way you cook it or what. I know the recipes are the same but it never turns out the same for me. I love sesame chicken and General Tsao's chicken. Both are delicious. I'm not too fond of peanut chicken though. Have you tried lemon chicken? It's pretty good if you like citrus flavor.

I love peanut chicken but have never tried to make it. I will have to search for a recipe and see what I can find.

Fleur~ What is lemon chicken? Do you have a recipe for it?

Yuk, Yuk and more yuk. Sorry! I think some things are just better left uneaten. I know here in my town you can go to the all you can eat Chinese Buffets for pretty cheap. Not sure you could beat those prices making it yourself.
Do you have those buffets in your area? Perhaps you can limit it to every other week.

Look for sauces and recipes for Peking Chicken if you like chicken with a batter. If you can find a Peking sauce in your grocery store in the Chinese food section, there probably is a recipe on the bottle. I bought one, followed the directions, spiced it to my liking, and it was just delicious. I would recommend one that has no MSG.

I would like to know this as well seeing as all of my experiments have failed. There is a place in the mall that makes "THEE BEST" chicken and I have no idea how they do it.
