Default Dishes

I'm seriously looking at getting a dishwasher but aren't sure how economical they are? I don't want a really high water and electricity bill at the end of the month. I can't stand doing the dishes and everyone says you should really look in to getting one.

Depending on how much you run the dishwasher will determine how much your bills increase. I suggest only running it once a day until you know what type of increase you have. Since pots and pans are so larger, I wash them by hand, thus leaving more room in the dishwasher throughout the day.

I would suggest going to consumerreports.com and getting their opinion on which dishwashers use the least amount of energy and which dishwashers come more recommended. They are usually pretty thorough in their reviews.

There are only two of us in the house so I only run mine two to three times a week. It saves me a lot of trouble and I think it saves me money in my water bills. The electricity bill hasn't increased because we have started doing some money saving measures for that, so it's all good.

A dishwasher is a great thing to have and the pros far outweigh the cons. Generally, I don't run the cycle each time I add dishes. I try to wait as long as I can to get the dishwasher as full as I can before I run it. That will save on increased electricity costs.
