Default Do you freeze food?

Do you make meals ahead and freeze them? I have been considering this as a possibility to save time on busy nights. What kinds of meals freeze best?

I do. I will make a batch of meatballs and a meatloaf in the same day. They all go in the freezer so when I need something, I have it.
I also will make a huge batch of taco meat for dinner and freeze the leftovers. I do the same when I make sloppy joes. I make a double batch of the mixture for the sloppy joes. Just take the meat out and throw it in the microwave. Quick and easy.

I cook a ton of stuff in advance. Black bean soup, marinara sauce, beef stew, chili, gumbo, red beans, etc. I usually try to cook a huge pot of something every weekend and then I have a steady supply of dinners in the freezer. During the week I alternate - one night I'll cook and then the next I'll just defrost something.

That sounds like a great idea Bella and Nylorac. I was really good about freezing meals when I was pregnant but after the baby came we ate them all and now there is nothing in my freezer!

I've done deliberate freezer cooking in the past but not lately. I may plan an afternoon coming up to fill the freezer again. It really does save a whole lot of time. It also saves money because it's just as easy to pull something out rather than ordering takeout when you're tired.

I froze food more before I lived with a roommate. Now, I don't freeze as much. I used to make soups and beans and freeze them for myself in single serve packages.

I do freeze leftovers a lot. We also make meatballs and spaghetti sauce and freeze it. Come to think about it, we also freeze chili. Chili is great to pull out on a cold winter day for lunch.

I think this would be a great idea. I've never really thought of freezing food before but it would help save time on busy days. What types of food do you freeze?

Gosh, I wish I had the freezer space! I would cook and freeze a lot of stuff. A lot of meals are better if the have been heated up (like spaghetti sauce and meatloaf). It would certainly be convenient.

Because I almost exclusively eat leftovers, I'll freeze food so I have something from home for lunch when I head to work. Generally, I don't make sandwiches for myself. Rather have the leftovers.
