Freezing food is not always a bad idea. I do it a couple of times actually. There are days when I am literally sleeping in the office, so in the weekends I try to cook as much as posible and freeze some of it for the week. I found that that this works best for stews. Whenever I am making stew dishes, with beef, pork or chicken, freezing it does not really take out the taste. You can always micorwave it and it tastes more or less the same.

I have actually started freezing individual portion sizes. For example I will freeze one grilled chicken breast in a small freezer bag. This way is perfect to thaw out something for a quick meal or lunch.

I don't think left-overs taste the same after freezing. It is better than throwing it out but I'd prefer to eat it freshly cooked or out of the fridge. I must admit I don't have much time to cook so it would be more convenient.

I find it really saves money if I buy stuff that's on offer, like three packs of braising steak for the price of two, and chop it into pieces then freeze in portions that you would use for a meal. You can do this with anything as long as you freeze it on the day of purchase.
