Default Farmer's Market... Oh My! :-)

*** Ooops, sorry! I meant to start this as a new thread... and now that I'm in edit, I can't find a delete button.

I just got back from the farmer's market. Our local market is really special because in addition to produce, they have all kinds of Amish-made things from baked goods to bulk stuff to home canned (as in another thread!) things.

There are also meat and fish counters since half of the market is indoors. And then there are a lot of flea market tables, too. My shoulders hurt from carrying everything, but I got a LOT of fabulous things!

Our local farmers markets are not near as nice as those sound. There is never any meat at them. We do have a place called "The Windmill" that sounds similar to your farmers market. Crafts galore, fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, Amish furniture, flowers and other things.

Every year we go to the farmers market a few times. Usually when we want to make pickles or can vegetables. I'll buy cucumbers and tomatoes to use them.

We have a big garden but a lot of times the needed vegetables aren't ready at the same time or when I'm ready and have time to make the pickles or can tomatoes.

I always have good intentions of wanting to learn to can veggies and fruits but I never get around to actually doing it. The farmer's market would be a great place for me to pick up those things, though... maybe this will be the year I do it.
