Default Favorite Warm-Weather Salad?

When it's one of those days that it's too hot to cook, do you have a favorite salad to serve?

I like a pasta salad I make with twist pasta (I just cook it really early in the morning), meats, cheese, etc. with a nice light dressing. If not that, we also like broccoli and cauliflower salad with cheese, bacon, red onion.... and that gets a mayo-based dressing.

I love this time of year and summer too. I love grilling food outdoors and all the salads that we make and eat.

My favorite salad to make is macaroni salad. It's just the easiest and we always have everything on hand. It's elbow noodles, tuna fish, hard boiled eggs, onions, green peppers, and miracle whip.

My favorite salad to eat is pasta salad. I love all the fresh vegetables and the meat and cheese. We only use pepperoni and usually sharp cheddar cheese. I also use low-fat Italian dressing on the salad. The vegetables are whatever we have or the ones in season. We always add tomatoes, broccoli, cucumbers, onions, and radishes.

I'm getting hungry now!

Yummy, those salads sure sound good. My favorite cold salad growing up was and is tuna macaroni salad. You can eat it hot or cold. It isn't very fancy; just noodles, mayo, onions and celery. But it is one thing that stands out from my childhood, that I still love today and it is easy to make.

I've never been able to find a macaroni salad that I'm satisfied with after a search of many years. I *did* finally find a potato salad recipe that we all love, though.

With that tuna in yours, it seems as if it could be a main dish when I've usually used mac salad as a side dish. Sounds yummy!

Oh, of course pasta salad is my favorite.

Funny I just came across this post because I just drained my twisty (rotini) noodles that I had cooking because we are brining pasta salad to camp. I add everything under the sun in my salad. We have pepperoni, broccoli, pea pods, chedder cheese, cucumber, onion, seasonings, sometimes mixed veggies and ham as well, and of course the best part--the dressing. I always use Wish Bone Italian.

I love to eat coleslaw as well in the summer. I have never made it though.

If I'm looking for a sweet treat during the hot months, nothing beats just plain old fruit salad. To be honest, when it's really hot and I'm outdoors, this is really the only thing that appeals to me at all. It's light, yet filling, and it helps keep you hydrated. It's always a favorite around my house.

Yum! This sounds good and I'll have to try to add some of these other things to mine. I'm getting groceries this morning and I was just sitting here finishing up the store list and I'll be making that recipe next week.

I like dried Italian herbs in there... mine's actually called "Hoagie Salad" because it has the same things as a hoagie/sub/whatever your part of the country calls them.

All of these salads sound great and I will be trying them soon. One of my favorite salads in summer is a chicken salad with red onions and carrot shavings. Yummy!
